Gouvia is a family-friendly resort which offers all the essential ingredients for happy holidays. Big enough to have a variety of shops and places to eat, but small enough not to be too busy, the town appeals to sightseers as well as sunbathers, with the pretty Ipapanti church opposite the beach and ruined remains of the island's former Venetian occupation much in evidence. Today's visitors will find cuisine of all kinds in the resort's many restaurants, a couple of excellent supermarkets and a safe pebbly beach offering sunbeds for hire and a variety of watersports. At the edge of the resort, the modern marina is home to some stylish yachts, a few cafés and patisseries, a restaurant and one of the island's three cricket pitches, where matches are still regularly played by locals and vistors alike. On the other side of the marina is the resort village of Kontokali, home to a blue-flag beach and a few more bars and places to eat. The historic attractions of bustling Corfu Town are only a few kilometres away. Distance from airport approximately 9 kilometres.
