A modern place with a lively nightlife as well as a fun-filled holiday resort, Acharavi is the main town for the north of the island and as such offers a variety of everyday amenities such as banks and supermarkets along its bustling high street, as well as a tempting selection of souvenir and gift shops. The more touristy part of the resort is along the main road from which smaller lanes run down to the beach, where a variety of tavernas and bars overlook a long stretch of sand which hugs the coast for more than three kilometres. A walking trail along the Acharavi shoreline and up into the foothills of Mount Pantokrator is a popular and splendidly scenic route with more energetic holidaymakers.
