More on Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is a low-key holiday island with sun-soaked beaches, fantastic windsurfing and a laid-back nightlife. The dazzling white sands of its many beaches were blown here from the Sahara centuries ago. Some are tiny and some such sweeping dunes that you expect a sheikh and his harem to appear over the horizon at any minute.

Once a fishing village, Corralejo is today a popular resort with lots of holiday-friendly amenities, from a water park and a thalassotherapy centre, to mini-golf and bowling. The best known of its glorious beaches is Flag and Glass in the Oliva area, complemented by a good selection of shops and supermarkets, plenty of excellent local and international restaurants and a variety of evening entertainment. Distance from airport approximately 36 kilometres.

The History
With endless white sandy beaches and peaceful resorts, Fuerteventura is primed for relaxing summer holidays. Gentle sea breezes and the warmth of the African continent give the second largest of the Canary Islands a pleasant year-round climate that attracts families and beach lovers alike. Holidaymakers who relish miles of broad sandy beaches can lie back and savour the peace and quiet, before heading off with their camera to snap the beautiful volcanic landscape or Corralejo's famous sand dunes.

The Island
Sail away from Corralejo harbour in a glass-bottom boat to the tiny uninhabited island of Los Lobos. A protected nature reserve, this island is an unspoilt habitat for rare sea birds and plants, and has an 'off the beaten track' atmosphere that attracts surfers.

The Beaches
Fuerteventura is a beach lovers' paradise which also boasts local markets, relaxing bars and breezes that whip off the Atlantic, attracting wave-chasing windsurfers from around the world. Explore the lunar landscape and witness the power of Fire Mountain. A rare experience, always to be remembered. BAKU The only waterpark on the island and a splashtastic day for all.
