Highlights of Lefkas
Below the central mountains, Lefkas is a pretty verdant island with hundreds of blue beehives scattered amongst the pastures and fertile farmlands. The east coast offers calm waters sheltered by the mainland, and the mainland itself is accessed via a swing bridge out of the island capital, Lefkas Town. This opens up the attractions of the mainland for those who stay here. Lefkas Town offers some unique colourful architecture and nightlife, as does the resort Nidri. Just offshore, there are a few scenic islets scattered around the coast, one of which is Skorpios, the privately owned island of the Onassis family. The beautiful island of Lefkas has kept its authenticity and the natural environment is still relatively unspoilt drawing those in search of their own Greek Island paradise.
