Blink and you'll miss Gorjões, a tiny rural community north of Faro, four kilometres from the village of Santa Barbara de Nexe and twelve kilometres from the busy market town of Loulé. There's a small store and a snack bar at Fonte da Murta less than three kilometres from the villa and a couple of restaurants in Santa Barbara.

Villa Monte Valado stands in the midst of untamed countryside, its rambling grounds scattered with olive trees. A carob tree provides some welcome shade beside the pleasingly private poolside terrace, from which a dozen steps climb to the villa. Here a shaded terrace enjoys uninterrupted views across the rolling tree-clad countryside and opens into an airy lounge/diner. Cooled by a ceiling fan and sharing those scenic views, the lounge/diner adjoins a small kitchen. Although we offer this as only a two bedroom villa there are in fact three. A single bedroom shares a bathroom with one of the double bedrooms and the other double has its own en suite bathroom.
